Nikki Giant
Change-maker
Background
Nikki is an author, counsellor, and social entrepreneur with a deep commitment to enabling children and young people to flourish. She is the founder of The Spark Movement, a not- for- profit organisation supporting educators, parents, and changemakers to ignite the light within every child. Over the last 20 years, she has worked in schools, communities, and youth settings across the UK, Europe, and the USA, with a focus on children’s social- emotional wellbeing. Nikki is also the author of six books providing practical resources for teachers and youth practitioners to support children’s wellbeing.
Expertise
With more than two decades of experience, Nikki brings expertise in counselling, social- emotional learning, and education. Her approach is grounded in listening to children as equals, valuing their wisdom, and creating opportunities for them to be seen and heard. She is passionate about helping children access peaceful, sensory- friendly spaces and embedding wellbeing into the systems that shape their lives.
Connection to the Mission
Nikki is honoured to be part of the PeacePath Circle, where the ethos aligns strongly with her own. For her, ‘finding peace in the little sounds’ means creating space for stillness and self- reflection. She hopes to contribute by offering an educational perspective, helping HushAway® connect with schools and curriculum priorities, and drawing on her networks with Welsh Government, the Children’s Commissioner in Wales, and grassroots organisations. She also looks forward to supporting promotion through The Spark Movement podcast.
Lived Experience & Insights
Although not a parent herself, Nikki has been shaped by the voices of thousands of children and young people she has worked with. They have taught her that wellbeing starts with listening - not from a place of authority, but from curiosity and respect. She believes the spaces surrounding children are fundamental to their wellbeing, yet too often overlooked, especially in today’s ‘always- on’ world. For neurodiverse children in particular, peaceful, sensory- friendly environments can provide vital opportunities for regulation and growth.
Vision & Impact
Nikki is excited by the emerging alignment of science and spirituality, and the growing recognition of sound frequencies as a tool for wellbeing. She believes the next decade offers an opportunity to shift perspectives on neurodiversity - from being seen as a problem to be fixed, to an opportunity to be embraced.
Fun Fact
Nikki once interviewed Ban Ki- Moon, former Secretary General of the UN. On a lighter note, she failed her driving test five times before finally passing - proof of her persistence!
