Wellbeing and inclusion
A regulated child is ready to learn, to belong and to behave. Here is how a daily sound moment supports the things your school is already working towards.

Statutory Health Education
HushAway® supports delivery of statutory Health Education, including rest and self-care, naming feelings, and the link between feelings and behaviour. Materials are open and viewable by parents in advance.
Personal development, behaviour and inclusion
Inspectors look for calm environments and systems in place that support every child. A simple, consistent sound moment is exactly that kind of system, and it produces evidence of impact a school can keep for a named child.
Belonging
As schools move towards monitoring belonging and engagement, HushAway® gives children who find the day hard a way to stay regulated, included and present.
Everything is designed with Ofsted and Department for Education guidance on wellbeing, inclusion and statutory Health Education in mind. We quote the guidance, we do not claim its endorsement.
Wellbeing and inclusion in schools
HushAway® is designed with Ofsted and Department for Education guidance on wellbeing and inclusion in mind. It gives you a simple, consistent practice to point to across several areas inspectors look at: personal development, behaviour and attitudes, SEND and inclusion, mental health and wellbeing, and attendance.
The policy backdrop has shifted too. Schools are now encouraged to take a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing, with trained senior mental health leads and support woven through everyday practice rather than bolted on at the edges. A calm, daily sound moment is one small, repeatable part of that culture, and something you can point to all year, not just at inspection.
Every school in England publishes an inclusion strategy by 31 December 2026. A daily sound moment gives that strategy a named activity, a budgeted cost, an intended outcome and the evidence to show at next year’s review. Our free planner shows how, with wording you can adapt.

Wellbeing is now a priority in the inspection framework, and a daily sound moment supports delivery of statutory Health Education under PSHE: rest and self-care, naming feelings, and the link between feelings and behaviour.
Personal development
A calm, inclusive routine
A short, predictable sound moment gives every child a low-demand way to self-regulate, part of the everyday culture of wellbeing that personal development looks for.
Behaviour and attitudes
Regulation, not sanctions
Children are supported to come back to calm in the room rather than being removed. The aim is calmer transitions and a kinder picture of behaviour.
SEND, mental health and attendance
Reasonable, written into plans
A daily sound moment can sit in a child’s individual support plan and your wider mental health offer, and for some children a gentler start to the day supports attendance.
HushAway®
