Who it helps
HushAway® is built for the children who feel the school day more loudly. If a child is working hard just to filter the hum of the lights, the scrape of chairs and twenty voices at once, sound can give their nervous system somewhere to rest. It is written for children aged four to ten, and developed particularly for neurodivergent children, though the calm it brings can settle any child who finds the day a lot. That includes children with a PDA profile, whatever their diagnosis, for whom even a gentle "calm down" can feel like a demand. Sound needs no instructions, so it still works when a child is already overwhelmed.
Trusted alongside The Sleep Charity and youHQ, and a proud fundraiser for the National Autistic Society.

Autistic children
For sensory overload, transitions and the moment words stop working. Low-demand and instruction-free, with nothing to perform and nothing asked of the child.
Children with ADHD
For focus, restlessness and big feelings. Steady background sound can help some children with ADHD settle to a task.
Sensory processing
For children who are overwhelmed or under-stimulated by sound, with soundscapes that meet both seekers and avoiders.
Anxiety and worry
For the circling, bedtime-at-school kind of worry, with gentle sound that steadies the body first.
Why it matters
Up to 80%
of children with SEND struggle with sleep at some point, against up to half of all children (The Sleep Charity).
One in five
8 to 16 year olds has a probable mental health condition (NHS England, 2023).
Almost 138,000
children in England are waiting for an autism assessment (Health and Social Care Committee, 2025).
Up to 316,000
children are waiting for an ADHD assessment (Health and Social Care Committee, 2025). HushAway® helps every child in the room, diagnosed or not.
Sensory profiles
Two children can look dysregulated in the same moment and need opposite support. One is seeking more input, one is trying to shut input out. Headphones help the avoider and can overwhelm the seeker. HushAway® is built to serve both, and the training covers how to tell which is which in the room.
The sensory seeker
Craves input: movement, pressure, louder, faster. A seeker often does better with a richer soundscape they can lean into, played on a speaker rather than through headphones.
The sensory avoider
Overwhelmed by input: noise, light, crowding. An avoider often needs the headphones, a lower volume and a smaller, quieter corner to retreat into.
How it works
HushAway® changes the sound around a child so a calmer moment can arrive on its own, with nothing asked of them.
In the day
Calmer transitions
The walk in from the playground and the moves between lessons are less likely to tip into meltdown.
Regulation in the room
The aim is for regulation to happen in the room, with no corridor walk and no label attached to leaving.
Staff time back
Under ten minutes a day, with nothing for staff to explain or run.
A shared language
Children learn to ask for their sound, a small, repeatable way to say I need a moment.
HushAway®
